Dictatorship in animal farm
Old Major wanted Animal Farm to be a Communist farm like Lenin and Karl Marx. He wanted everyone to be equal and work as a unit. Snowball was the leader after his death and he did revolt against the farmers. Old Major's dreams of Animal Farm were swept away after Napoleon took control, exiling Snowball from animal farm.
In the Russian revolution a similar incidents happened where Leon Trotsky was leading the revolution for communism. Stalin also a Bolshevik as Trotsky had other plans of changing Russia into a Dictatorship.
In Animal Farm Napoleon and his dogs were unstoppable and after Snowball was killed he had full power over the farm. Likewise Stalin and his special force controlled Russia and made sure that Stalin achieved what he wanted.
Napoleon is Orwell's chief villain in Animal Farm. Although Napoleon seemed to be a good leader in the beginning, he eventually overcame it by becoming power-hungry. Stalin did the same in Russia, leaving socialism behind, giving himself all the power and living in luxury while the common peasants suffered. Thus, while his national and international status blossomed, the welfare of Russia remained unchanged. Orwell explains, "Somehow it seemed as though the farm had grown richer without making the animals themselves any richer except, of course for the pigs and the dogs." The true side of Napoleon becomes evident after he slaughters Snowball for plotting against him. He even hires a pig to sample his food for him to make certain that no one is trying to poison him. Stalin, too, was a cruel dictator in Russia. After suspecting many people in his empire to be supporters of Trotsky (Orwell's Snowball), Stalin systematically murders many.
GEORGE ORWELL'S POINT OF VIEW
George Orwell decided to end his book at the point where Napoleon took over Animal Farm. He did not go onto mentioning the revolution against Napoleon (Stalin). Orwell knew that if he continued the book that there would be another revolution against the pigs but he stopped the novel just when the other animals realized that Napoleon is a backstabber and he is working with the humans. So, the novel ends in sorrow, when the animals caught Napoleon and the pigs talking with the humans and standing on two feet.
my opinon on the comparison
George Orwell ended the book too early. He portrayed another revolution but didn't write more on it. George Orwell ended the book with excitement and it seemed that there might have been another book to show the resolution but there was never another book. I think that Orwell ended the book the way he felt that the revolution ended, as the dictatorship was the end for Russia. George Orwell's opinion on dictatorship is the same as mine. Dictatorship is something that no person or country should have to go through but for some people dictatorship is a good opportunity to enjoy power, wealth and luxurious living standards.
